EDI Mission Statement

Our mandate is to foster excellence in research, teaching and community engagement by promoting equity, diversity and inclusion. We aim at enhancing representation in committees and departmental events such as seminars, lectures, tutorials or symposia by including and recruiting students, staff and faculty members from under-represented groups. We believe that the perspectives of all members of the Department and greater community enhance the student experience and promote the inclusion of individuals from under-represented groups.

By creating a safe and welcoming environment where our differences are celebrated and through partnership with other stakeholders at McMaster University and the greater Hamilton area, we support all students, staff and faculty members in achieving their career objectives and fulfilling their aspirations as active members of the community.
